SAE Project:

My ownership Supervised Agriculture Experience consists of the purchasing, raising and showing of crossbred steer. I then sell my steer at my county’s livestock sale and use the profit to purchase my steer for the following year and to improve on animal quality. Along with my ownership SAE, I have two placement SAEs. The first consists of working on my family’s fifth generation farm where my family raises crossbred cattle, grows row crops and manages a contract nursery hog operation of over 14,000 pigs. For my second placement SAE, I work for McLaughlin Enterprises, which is a mowing company that manages several commercial and residential properties.

Why did I want to serve as a Missouri FFA State Officer?

I wanted to serve as a Missouri FFA State Officer to make the positive impact in the lives of members that I was able to receive by past Missouri FFA State Officers in my own life. Missouri FFA teaches us that a life filled with service is one of happiness, and getting to serve Missouri FFA is a true honor.

What legacy do you most want to leave during your year of service?

I want the legacy I leave behind with Missouri FFA members to be one of authentic connections made through meaningful interactions. I hope that members see me as someone who believed in them before they believed in themselves. I hope to empower students through belief, growth and joy. I want my year of service to be a model of leadership, inspiration and action.

What are your plans for the future?

I am undecided on which institution I will attend, but I plan to obtain a degree in agribusiness and finance. I then hope to work in the agricultural industry as a financial analyst. Later in life, I hope to pursue a career in politics to further advocate for agriculture.

What is something unique or interesting that few people know about you?

Something interesting that few people know about me is that I have 41 first cousins, all from my dad’s side of the family. This comes from my late grandfather and loving grandmother who had 13 children I am lucky enough to call my aunts and uncles. Family is one of my biggest core values, and I can’t wait to share this year with my FFA family.

Advice to FFA Members

My advice to FFA Members is to always have a willing spirit, even if you may not think the thing you are experiencing is for you. Having the willingness to try something with a positive attitude will benefit you more than having a negative experience because you are unwilling to try something. Step outside of your comfort zone.
