SAE Project:

My main SAE consists of feeding out and direct marketing freezer beef to my customer base. I also work alongside my family on our row crop operation and work with our herds of specialty replacement heifers. Additionally, I have used my passion for agriculture to network and inform consumers about our industry through opportunities FFA has given me.

Why did I want to serve as a Missouri FFA State Officer?

I hoped to serve as a Missouri FFA State Officer to give back to the organization that has given me so much. The support I received from FFA advisors and agriculture industry leaders pushed me to grow my passion for the agricultural industry. Most importantly, I wished to serve Missouri FFA members. As a senior, I realized how much I loved meeting new people and learning about their interests. FFA members believe in the future of agriculture, but our passions can range from goat production to plant science to woodworking. Everyone has a unique story, and I am excited to hear them all!

What legacy do you most want to leave during your year of service?

I want to serve Missouri FFA members with encouragement and support. As a greenhand, I had no idea where my FFA journey would take me, but with the encouragement and support from others, I realized I was able to achieve my goals. I want to help members get out of their comfort zones and watch them grow!

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to earn a degree in agricultural education and return to a rural high school to teach secondary agriculture classes, while owning my own production agriculture operation.

What is something unique or interesting that few people know about you?

I love sparkling water! I enjoy testing different flavors, but my favorite is the Lemon Chello La Croix!

Advice to FFA Members

My advice to FFA members is the same advice my FFA advisor has given to me: “You never know unless you try”. The first time I heard this, I was trying to decide if I wanted to attend the Missouri FFA Public Speaking Academy. I was wary because I was an incoming junior, knew nothing about public speaking and was worried I would be “behind” everyone else. Thankfully, my advisor motivated me to get out of my comfort zone, which led me to attend both Public Speaking Academy and Public Speaking Institute twice!

However, my advisor needed to remind me of this advice while I was trying to decide if I should run for a Missouri FFA State Officer position. Once again, he encouraged me to apply and interview to see where it would take me. My advice to FFA members is to just try, because goals I had deemed impossible for me to reach have become my reality!
