SAE Project:

I have multiple SAEs. My main project is my custom pork feeding business where I raise hogs and feed them out for local customers. In addition, I have 50 laying hens from which I sell their eggs to people in my community. Lastly, I work at Midway Golf and Games where I am responsible for landscape and turf management, as well as customer service.

Why did I want to serve as a Missouri FFA State Officer?

I first joined FFA my sophomore year and came in as a shy individual. However, over the past three years, with encouragement from my advisors and fellow members, I stepped out of my comfort zone and competed in public speaking as well as multiple Career Development Events. I had the honor of serving my chapter as an officer, where I was given the opportunity to encourage other members to step outside of their comfort zone. All of these activities and events I took part in showed me how much Missouri FFA has given to me. I want to be able to serve members and this organization on a larger scale. I want to help members realize the vast opportunities that FFA holds for them, from growing as a person to finding their possible career.

What legacy do I want to leave?

Before I joined FFA, I never realized just how important it is to get out and try new things in life. Through FFA, I have found activities and events that have sparked my passion for agriculture and my interest in future career opportunities. As FFA members, we have vast opportunities to explore activities, events and even career fields. As a Missouri FFA State Officer, I want to leave members with, “Don’t be afraid to try something new, you never know where it may lead you.”

What are your plans for the future?
I plan to attend the University of Missouri this fall to study agricultural education. I want to become an agricultural education teacher and help students find their spark through agriculture.
What is something unique or interesting that few people know about you?
Something that few people know about me is my love for chickens. I currently have 68 chickens and two turkeys, which is what sparked my egg production SAE.
Advice to FFA Members

Don’t be afraid to try new things. Go out and find as many new things to try as possible, but don’t be afraid of failure. Failure isn’t always failure. Just because you didn’t meet your goal doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Take the lessons and skills you learned along the way and apply them in other parts of your life.
