SAE Project:

My SAE focuses on growing and selling Chrysthemums (mums) for retail and wholesale. I start the mums as plugs at the end of May and water and fertilize until the end of October when they are ready to sell. I work with local FFA chapters and schools to sell mums as fundraising events!

Why did I want to serve as a Missouri FFA State Officer?

I wanted to give members what other state officers before me had given to me. I have always said I wanted to be someone else’s “why”, as in why they want to be a state officer and why they feel they belong in FFA. I know how it feels to think you don’t belong in FFA, and I want to make sure that each and every member feels like they belong.

What legacy do you most want to leave during your year of service?

I want to leave a legacy of being someone who is the light in dark moments. I want to be positive and always smiling because FFA members only get a glimpse of you, and I want that glimpse to be positive. I want to make an impact that lasts a lifetime, and I want to make members feel like they belong. No matter what, I will always be in their corner cheering the loudest.

What are your plans for the future?

My future plans are to continue my SAE while in college and continue learning more about agriculture while pursuing a degree in Agriculture Education. After college, I want to be an ag teacher and be a positive role model and the best teacher I can be for my future students. I want to continue growing my SAE even once I graduate college because it’s something I fell in love with doing and it’s more than just an SAE, it’s a business I love.

What is something unique or interesting that few people know about you?

I drive 305 Dirt Sprint Cars! It’s something most people know about me once they get to know me, but it’s just fun and exciting. I started racing at the age of six and have just moved up the ranks as I’ve grown up. I am a third-generation racecar driver, and it’s a family tradition and something I love to do on the weekends.

Advice to FFA Members

Say yes to everything! When your advisor asks if you want to do a public speaking event and you look at them like they are crazy, say yes! They wouldn’t ask you to do it if they didn’t think you could. You are more capable than you could imagine. Each and every experience, CDE or LDE event has shaped me into the person I am today. Because of those LDEs, my public speaking skills are way better than where I started as a freshman. We all have to start somewhere, and the first step is to say yes and try. You never know what could happen.
