My advice to FFA members is the same advice my FFA advisor has given to me: “You never know unless you try”. The first time I heard this, I was trying to decide if I wanted to attend the Missouri FFA Public Speaking Academy. I was wary because I was an incoming junior, knew nothing about public speaking and was worried I would be “behind” everyone else. Thankfully, my advisor motivated me to get out of my comfort zone, which led me to attend both Public Speaking Academy and Public Speaking Institute twice!
However, my advisor needed to remind me of this advice while I was trying to decide if I should run for a Missouri FFA State Officer position. Once again, he encouraged me to apply and interview to see where it would take me. My advice to FFA members is to just try, because goals I had deemed impossible for me to reach have become my reality!
