SAE Project:
My main SAE is market goats. Every year, I show goats at the state, district, and area levels. I have been doing a market goat SAE since my sophomore year of high school.
Why did I want to serve as a Missouri FFA State Officer?

I wanted to serve as a Missouri FFA State Officer because I have a passion for agriculture and FFA, and I want to help others find their passion.

I grew up doing a lot of extracurricular activities, but I found my true passion when I joined this amazing organization. Coming from a non-ag family, I have a different experience than others within this organization. Even though at the time I found it a little unsettling to change my goals, I learned that the goals I had set were for a different passion, and this passion was greater than the others. I learned that I wanted to be an ag teacher to help connect with students.

I want to serve as a Missouri FFA State Officer to represent my area of the state, the bootheel. I also want to show FFA members that you can be successful within this organization if you work hard.

What legacy do I want to leave?

I hope that I leave the legacy of resilience. Throughout my time in the blue jacket, I found myself staring at challenges. I had to learn to look past the problem to find a solution. My FFA journey looks different from most, but what mattered was the resilience I had toward every situation. Instead of giving up, I worked hard to achieve my goals. I hope that I leave Missouri FFA with the legacy of resilience in the face of adversity.

What are your plans for the future?

My future plans are to obtain my agriculture education teacher certification at the University of Missouri so I can help educate and grow the next generation of young leaders. I had amazing advisors who have inspired me, and I hope as an ag teacher I can be the same for my students. I hope to also find a way to continue to work with FFA one on one. My passion for the organization is something that I will never lose. I want to continue to give my time and effort to the organization that gave so much to me.

What is something unique or interesting that few people know about you?

Something that is interesting about me is that I have been playing softball since I was 4 years old. I played competitively on travel ball teams for 10 years. I have played in the softball world series three years in a row, and we went to nationals the year after where my team placed fifth.

Advice to FFA Members

My advice to all FFA members is take advantage of the opportunities at hand. This organization provides you with so many different opportunities, so take a chance and try something new. Get involved! Getting to be a part of something bigger than yourself is the best feeling in the world. I get caught up in little moments and have to remind myself to look at the bigger picture. Don’t forget to take a step back and look at the bigger picture you are making.
