SAE Project:

My SAE consists of agricultural communications and the social media brand called “My FFA Experience.” As part of my project, I post content across all major platforms, but primarily on YouTube and Instagram, including advice, tips, tricks, and stories to anyone who wants to learn more about the organization. The program was recently featured on RFD-TV on the show FFA Today and won the 2022 State Proficiency Award for Ag Communications.

What motivated you to want to become a Missouri FFA officer?

I wanted to become a Missouri FFA Officer because I wanted to be able to connect with and motivate members like me. I was never someone who was involved in the agriculture industry or even familiar with it until high school. When I got involved with FFA it took a lot of self motivation and perseverance for me to experience the amazing opportunities that were presented to me, and unfortunately not every member has that. I want to be that person that members can identify with and understand that FFA has something for everyone and you don’t have to fit a certain mold in order to enjoy it or be successful.

Who is your hero and why?

My hero would have to be Elon Musk. He is a man that has revolutionized the way that we perceive and interact with the world around us, but this wasn’t met without backlash. He had been told that he could not do things his entire life. He was told that online payments would never work, so he founded Paypal. He was told that electric cars would never be practical and mainstream, so he founded Tesla. He was told space exploration was a slow process left up to governments, so he founded SpaceX. He has been told no his entire life but continues to prove naysayers wrong. That is why he is my hero and role model.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to attend Northwest Missouri State University for the next four years and pursue a degree in Mass Media, as well as receiving my teacher certification. I want to pursue a career within social media and content creation. I have always loved the idea of being an entrepreneur and building businesses and brands and that is what I want to do. I want to continue building my SAE project after high school as well as starting other businesses, while also building my personal brand. I would also love to eventually teach media classes at a high school career center as well as coach baseball and football.

What is something unique or interesting that few people know about you?

I am a massive movie buff and can quote the most random scenes from the most random movies. This includes knowing the entire wilderness explorer scene from the movie, Up. I also love music and have nearly 4,000 songs on my phone!

Advice to FFA Members

Your time and experience in FFA is what you make of it. If you choose not to explore new opportunities, you are not going to have the same exciting experiences as someone who does. Get outside of your comfort zone. Go on that trip, do that contest, work on that project. You never know if you will find your passion. At the same time though, once you have found what you love to do, then stick to it. Don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t be doing that contest/project/talent, because they don’t like it. Do what you love and your FFA experience will be amazing!
