My SAEs consist of raising and showing beef cattle on my family’s farm, facilitating an agricultural education summer camp through my county 4-H organization, participating in Missouri Farmers Care’s Ag Education on the Move program at my community’s family support center, and working at a local real estate title office.
What motivated you to want to become a Missouri FFA officer?
After having the opportunity to serve as a Chapter and Area Officer, I was able to recognize the impact officers make on their organization. I have been motivated by past State Officers, but what has really inspired me to become a Missouri FFA State Officer is the time of service Missouri FFA State Office provides. Making connections with FFA members from across the state, meeting them where they are, and being able to impact their FFA experience have been things that have truly motivated me to become a Missouri FFA State Officer.
Who is your hero and why?
My parents have had the greatest influence on my life. My dad is the sole person to get me involved in the agriculture industry. Growing up in the same beef cow-calf and row crop farm as he did has truly sparked my passion for agriculture. My mom, on the other hand, has influenced me by being my biggest supporter. She is always motivating me to become the best version of myself. I am proud to say I am their son.
What are your plans for the future?
With my college degree, I would like to work in public relations and/or agriculture policy for an agricultural commodity group at the state or national level. Agriculture advocacy is extremely important to me, especially at the legislative level because our legislators make decisions that impact not only America’s producers, but also its consumers. Although this is my career goal for now, maybe I will return to the agriculture classroom one day.
What is something unique or interesting that few people know about you?
I am a HUGE fan of reality television and game shows. Some of my favorites include: Big Brother, The Amazing Race, The Match Game, Wheel of Fortune, The Weakest Link and America Says!
Advice to FFA Members
Soak up every single second in the blue corduroy jacket because it will be over before you know it. FFA provides an abundance of opportunities for its members, so take advantage of every one that comes your way and do not wait because that opportunity may be gone in the blink of an eye. Be positive in all of your doings, step outside of your comfort zone and live in the moment because that is how we grow as leaders.
